How can our pharmacists help?

  • A private conversation. We talk through your goals, your current medicines and anything that has made weight management harder in the past.
  • Free health checks. We can record your weight, BMI and blood pressure at our in-store Health Station and email you the results, so you can see your progress over time.
  • Practical advice. We cover eating patterns, activity you can realistically keep up, sleep, and staying hydrated in the Gold Coast heat.
  • A local dietitian. We work with a local dietitian and can put you in touch if you’d like tailored nutrition advice.

What if I’ve been prescribed a weight-loss medicine?

Starting a new medicine can raise a lot of questions. If your doctor has prescribed a weight-loss medicine, our pharmacists can help you:

  • understand how and when to take or use your medicine, including injection technique where relevant;
  • know which side effects are common, how to manage them, and when to contact your doctor;
  • store your medicine correctly, including in hot weather and when travelling;
  • check for interactions with your other medicines, vitamins and supplements;
  • plan ahead for repeat prescriptions, and let you know early if supply of your medicine is affected.

Only your doctor can decide whether a prescribed weight-loss medicine is right for you. If you’d like to talk to a GP, Help Medical is an independent general practice located inside our store.
