How much does medication packing cost?
Medication packing is free for concession and health care card holders, and $5 a week for everyone else.
How does medication packing work?
- Talk to us. Bring in your current medicines and prescriptions, or ask your doctor to send scripts to us.
- We set up your profile. A pharmacist checks every medicine, dose and timing, and flags anything that needs a question to your doctor.
- We pack your medicines. Each week’s medicines are sealed into a blister pack labelled with the day and time of each dose.
- You collect. Pick up your packs each week, or have a family member or carer collect for you.
Who is medication packing for?
- People taking several medicines at different times of day
- Anyone who sometimes forgets whether they’ve taken a dose
- Older people living independently
- Family members and carers managing medicines for someone else
- Anyone whose medicines change often after hospital visits or specialist appointments
How does it help if you’re caring for a parent or partner?
Blister packs make it easy to see at a glance whether today’s doses have been taken, which gives you peace of mind if you don’t live with the person you care for. Let us know who else can collect packs or talk to us about their medicines, and we’ll note it on their profile.
What happens when a medicine changes?
If a doctor changes a dose or adds a new medicine, bring or send us the new script as soon as possible. We’ll update the packs and let you know when the new ones are ready. Please don’t try to push tablets out or add them yourself.
How do I get started?
Call us on (07) 5592 2099 or ask at the prescription counter at the back of the store. If you take several medicines, a free medication review with one of our pharmacists is a good first step, and we can keep your repeat prescriptions on file so you don’t need to bring the paperwork each week.
