Priceline Pharmacy Pacific Fair is operated by Markey Pharmacies Pty Ltd, an independently owned Priceline Pharmacy franchise store at Shop 81, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Hooker Blvd, Broadbeach QLD 4218. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and, as a pharmacy, by the professional obligations that apply to health information. This policy explains what information we collect, why, how we keep it safe, and how you can access or correct it.
What information we collect
In store, we collect the information needed to dispense your medicines safely and provide pharmacy services. This can include your name, date of birth, address, phone number and email; Medicare, concession, DVA and safety-net details; your prescriptions, dispensing history, allergies and relevant health conditions; and records of services such as vaccinations, medication reviews and pharmacist consultations.
On this website, we collect very little. The site has no accounts, forms or shopping cart. If you email or call us, we keep the details you give us so we can respond. Our web hosting and analytics may record technical information such as your browser type, pages visited and approximate location, which is not used to identify you.
How we collect it
Mostly directly from you, in person, by phone or by email. We also receive information from your prescriber (for example eScripts and Active Script Lists), from Medicare and the PBS, from My Health Record where you have one and have allowed access, and from the apps you choose to send prescriptions through, such as the Priceline Pharmacy app or MedAdvisor.
Why we collect and use it
- To dispense your prescriptions safely and check for interactions, allergies and dosing.
- To provide services such as vaccinations, medication packing, medication reviews and pharmacist consultations, and to record them where the law requires (for example on the Australian Immunisation Register).
- To claim PBS, Medicare and other government benefits on your behalf.
- To contact you about your medicines, for example when a script is ready or a repeat is due.
- To meet our legal and professional obligations, including record keeping, real-time prescription monitoring (QScript) and reporting.
- To respond to your enquiries and improve our services.
We do not sell your information and we do not use your health information for marketing. We will only send you marketing if you have opted in, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
Only where it is needed to care for you or where the law requires it: your prescriber and other health professionals involved in your care, including the GPs at Help Medical if you ask us to; Services Australia (Medicare, PBS, the Australian Immunisation Register, My Health Record); Queensland Health systems such as QScript; our dispensing software, app and IT providers, who store information securely on our behalf; and regulators or courts where we are legally required. Help Medical is an independent general practice with its own privacy policy; information you give them is handled under that policy.
Some of our software providers store data on servers outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure the provider protects your information to the standard required by Australian law.
How we keep it secure
Dispensing records are held in secure, access-controlled pharmacy software. Paper records are kept in restricted areas of the store. Our team is trained in confidentiality and only accesses the information needed to do their job. Pharmacy records are kept for the periods required by law and then securely destroyed.
Cookies and analytics
This website may use cookies and privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful. You can block cookies in your browser without affecting your use of the site. Links to other websites (for example booking systems, Uber Eats, priceline.com.au and health authorities) are governed by those sites’ own privacy policies.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by speaking to a pharmacist in store, calling (07) 5592 2099 or emailing pharmacy@pricelinepf.com.au. We will need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time and tell you if there is any reason we can’t provide access.
Questions or complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your information, please contact the pharmacist in charge at pharmacy@pricelinepf.com.au or on (07) 5592 2099, or write to us at Shop 81, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Hooker Blvd, Broadbeach QLD 4218. We take complaints seriously and will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
